Sudden Valley Golf Course and Country Club
This 18-hole championship golf course is located in the Sudden Valley community, just minutes away from downtown Bellingham. The course was rated “Four Stars” by Golf Digest, and has hosted many major Northwest tournaments. The front nine, bordering beautiful Lake Whatcom, is open and fairly flat. The back nine is surrounded by tall evergreens and goes uphill, with narrower fairways and smaller greens. This is an excellent place to fine-tune your skill and accuracy, with water hazards on fourteen of the holes, and forty-seven bunkers throughout the course.
Birch Bay Golf Club
This public course is one of the most challenging 18-hole executive courses on the West Coast, featuring bentgrass greens, bunkering, westerly winds off the Bay, and water-laden channels to provide a unique experience for golfers of all abilities. The course provides gorgeous views of the Gulf Islands and Cascade Mountains with 400 feet of tidelands. The Club is also home to a rustic-style restaurant, Stephani's Restaurant By The Bay, which features Northwest cuisine and a selection of fine wines; as well as a traditional pub, Stephani's Beach Café.
Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club
This course was rated Washington's #1 Public Course by Golf Digest! Designed by Arnold Palmer, it is a scenic course, lined with tall trees. This is one of the most challenging courses, with water hazards on five holes, 67 strategic bunkers, and rolling fairways with fast greens. The course is playable for golfers of all abilities, from beginners to tour players, with tee box placements to adjust difficulty. There is also a driving range and putting and chipping greens. The Pro Shop and Clubhouse features a restaurant, lounge, snack bar, and banquet room; locker room facilities include exercise equipment, a sauna, and showers.
Shuksan Golf Club
This course was awarded Golf Digest's “Places to Play” 2004 Four Star award! It is named for nearby Mount Shuksan and varies over 100 feet in elevation. The 18-hole course offers a unique challenge with terrainranging from steep ridges to smooth fields, and Ten Mile Creek intercutting the fairways. The 300-occupancy Clubhouse is available for a variety of events, including weddings, receptions, banquets, anniversaries, and business meetings, with facilities available for groups of 10 to 300 people. A variety of memberships are available, and the Club can host tournaments of all sizes.
Bellingham Golf & Country Club
Located conveniently on Meridian Street, this course offers tree-lined fairways and well-bunkered greens. Water hazards come into play on seven holes due to a creek meandering through the course. This private course hosted the 1993 Hudson Cup Championship and features a restaurant and pro shop.
Lake Padden Golf Course
This excellent public golf course is tucked away in the forest, providing a challenges of varying terrain, sand traps, and narrow fairways surrounded by trees. The fairways are isolated from one another and the surroundings are beautiful. Water hazards are few, and the course is easily navigated on foot or with power carts. This full-service golfing facility offers a driving range, restaurant and pro shop, and also hosts tournaments and golfing lessons.
